Part 3 The Shaffer Custom Journey
So far in the custom home journey, the Shaffers have hired a real estate agent and a lender, chosen a builder, purchased a lot, and designed a floorplan. The next phase is more tedious. It involves a lot of meetings.
Appointments must be set to choose everything in a custom home â€“ cabinets, plumbing fixtures, appliances, flooring, exterior selections, trim styles, lighting, electrical options, doors, windows, and more. Because of this, a custom home requires a tremendous amount of research! Itâ€™s essential to do research on personal preferences â€“ especially paint colors, exterior design styles and interior design styles. Selections meetings can be very long if the owner doesnâ€™t know what they want beforehand.
After house placement was confirmed by the Shaffers, David Champagne (the builder) launched the foundation engineering. This was a six-week process due to approvals, supply delivery, and size. Mr. Champagne also prefers a 10-day concrete cure time before placing anything on the foundation.
Nearly seven months after starting the journey, the Shaffer custom dream home finally began framing. Once the frame was up, the Shaffers chose outlets with the electrician. The cabinet company took measurements for their final mock-up. The doors and windows were ordered. This project was rolling!
